Radiant Skin During Winter

Has the cold weather dried everything around you, including your skin? Have you tried all types of hydrating lotions without having any good results? Are you tired of hiding your skin under your clothes? Stop suffering about this! Here are some tips that will help you keep your skin moisturized, radiant, and healthy during any season of the year. Keep reading and dare to show-off your skin!

  • Wear sunscreen with SPF over 15 every day. UV rays from the sun cause damage to your skin, like wrinkles, dryness, and even cancer.
  • Avoid overexposing yourself to the sun, especially during the strongest hours, usually from 10 am to 4 pm.
  • Don't smoke. The toxins in cigarette smoke reduce the blood flow in your skin. This reduces the amount of oxygen and nutrients it gets. The consequence: your skin will lose its natural elasticity.
  • Avoid long hot showers. Take a 15-minute shower in luke warm  water so you don't alter your skin's natural oils.
  • Use a mild, moisturizing soap. Some good options are Dove or Purpose.
  • Leave some moisture on your skin when you dry it, and immediately apply a moisturizing lotion.
  • When you choose a moisturizing lotion, select one that doesn't have excessive fragrance or color agents. If you feel that the lotion is not enough to hydrate your skin, try using baby oil.
  • Soak your skin in warm water for a few minutes before you shave. Then, shave in the same direction as hair growth. Use a shaving cream; never shave a dry skin, because it can become irritated.
  • Try to follow a healthy, balanced diet that includes antioxidants, unsaturated fats, omega-3 fatty acids, and fiber. The following foods are a good source of these nutrients: citric fruits, berries, pears, melon (cantaloupe), green leafy vegetables, asparagus, eggplant, celery, onions,  beans, nuts, oily fish, olive oil, and avocado.
