Healthy Within Your Routine

Do you think your routine prevents you from leading a healthy life? Every day you get up early, you barely eat breakfast, and then you drive to take your kids to school. At lunch time, you buy some fast food and then you get back home so tired you skip your exercises. Organize your agenda and find ways to maintain a healthy lifestyle in spite of your routine.

The best way to start your busy day is by having a good breakfast.    Breakfast is the most important meal of the day and it should be complete, so take a low-fat yogurt with a high-fiber cereal and fruit. This balanced breakfast will give you energy, and fiber will keep you satisfied during the morning. If you are not used to having breakfast, try eating fresh fruit every morning. Then you can start adding more foods so you get used to having something in your stomach every morning. It isn't always easy to eat a complete breakfast, especially when you're not used to doing it.

As soon as you get to your  workplace, make sure to do some physical activity before you get started with your daily tasks. Don't worry about parking close to the entrance; try to park further so you have to walk more. If you work in a building, use the stairs to exercise your legs before walking in your office.

Have a healthy snack in the morning. Fruits, whole-wheat crackers, and fresh vegetables are healthy options before lunch time. If you don't have time to go back home for lunch, make sure to pack yourself a healthy one before you leave. A fresh tuna salad or a chicken breast with vegetables could be good low-fat and low-calorie options. A very greasy meal can make you feel little energy during the afternoon, and this won't let you work efficiently.

If your job keeps you in a chair all day, get up and move your legs whenever you can. If you don't have a chance to get up from your desk, stretch your legs while sitting; this can be a beneficial exercise too. Keeping your legs immobilized for a long time can cause severe damages to your blood circulation.

Drink enough water during the day. An adult should drink at least 8 glasses of liquids every day. Take a bottle of water with you and avoid sodas, since they just add calories and sugar to your diet. Gradually increase the amount of water you drink each day.

When you get home, invite your family or friends to go take a walk around the park. This will not only help you increase your  physical activity level, but will also be a great way of spending quality time with the people you care for. Remember that each day brings new challenges, and you will be able to achieve your goals if you begin your day with a positive and optimistic attitude.
